At the start of the Easter Holidays Mr Bessonies, Miss O’Brien, Mrs Shepherd, Mrs Jones and Mr Mallalieu took a group of students to Paris!
From the magic of Disneyland to a scenic cruise along the Seine and visits to iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, our students made memories to last a lifetime.
Well done to all pupils for representing the school so brilliantly, an unforgettable experience!
Well done to these fantastic pupils, who volunteered to attend Sunday Mass at Holy Cross RC Church and lived out our school value of ‘Service’ in the parish community! Pupils fulfilled roles during Mass and served refreshments in the Parish Centre afterwards. Thank you to Fr Martin and parishioners for the very warm welcome, and for joining us after Mass for tea and toast! We will be visiting St Mary’s next on 17th May.
As part of our celebration of the feast day of St Patrick, pupils, staff and Governors attended our St Patrick’s Day Mass at Holy Cross RC Church. It was fantastic to see so many pupils participating through various ministries, and to hear all pupils raising the roof with their joyful singing. Thank you to Fr Martin for celebrating Mass with us, and to parishioners who joined us as well.
This March, groups of our Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils took part in the RHS Green Shoots Taster Days, an inspiring opportunity designed to introduce young people to horticulture, environmental careers and hands-on outdoor learning.
Year 7 celebrated their first in school First Friday Mass. We thanked God for helping us to settle into St Patrick’s. Every form wrote their names on a candle to offer prayers to God
Some of our pupil chaplains visited St Patrick’s to venerate the relics of St Carlo Acutis. The pupils enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about St Carlo, and loved having the chance to create some third class relics
We are incredibly proud of our Year 10 pupils who recently competed in the final of Callsign’s Digital Defenders Cyber Challenge. The team reached the final stage of the competition, going head-to-head with five other Manchester schools and presenting their work in front of leading industry experts.
The Y10 Girls’ Group enjoyed an inspiring and hands-on visit to the Manchester Police Museum, where pupils took part in an interactive tour and an exciting mock trial.
Thank you to Fr Martin Collins for celebrating Mass with us! We celebrated the Eucharist for the Epiphany, and Year 11 enjoyed their year group Mass alongside staff and parents/carers. A fantastic way for us to start the new year and Spring term together as a community of faith!
On the last day of term, all pupils and staff gathered together for our Advent Liturgies. We reflected on the true meaning of Christmas through our readings and songs. May we take this opportunity to wish all members of the St Patrick’s community a very happy and holy Christmas when it comes!

Staff, pupils, parents/carers, alumni and parishioners came together to prepare for the coming of Christ through our annual Advent Carol Service at Holy Cross RC Church. Highlights included the drama performance ‘The Greatest Light of all’, the Year 7 Choir joining our established Choir, and the Staff Choir. It is always a very special time in our school calendar for us to come together in faith. Special thanks to Mrs Mulholland and Ms Hazlewood for all their hard work!
This Advent, our school community has been following the star around school, just as the Magi followed the star to find Jesus. Once a star has been found, students and staff can swap it for a chocolate in Chapel! ✝️💜⭐️
Our Year 8 pupils enjoyed another memorable retreat to Castlerigg. Set against the beautiful landscape of the Lake District, the retreat gave students valuable time to step away from everyday school life and reflect on their faith and friendships.
A big well done to the pupils who represented St Pats at the Salford Schools Panathlon Bowling competition. They all did amazing and were a credit to themselves and the school. We had a thoroughly fun morning. One of our teams also finished in silver place – very well done to these pupils.
Year 9 pupils returned to their primary school to speak about the sacrament of reconciliation. Thank you to Year 3 for the very warm welcome, and for your fantastic questions! We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers tomorrow as you take this next step on your sacramental journey.
Year 7 are warming up their vocal cords ready for next week’s Advent Carol Service! We can’t wait to welcome parents, carers, pupils, staff, friends of St Patrick’s and parishioners to Holy Cross RC Church on Wednesday 17th December at 6pm. Even our Staff Choir have a number prepared!
We were delighted to welcome Year 5 and 6 GIFT Teams from our partner primary schools to St Patrick’s! Pupils spent time with our Pupil Chaplains creating ‘Celebrations of the Word’ for the four weeks of Advent. Pupils and staff across our 6 schools are praying these each week as we “prepare a way for the Lord” this Advent.
Now the jubilee year has come to a close, we reflect on the impact this has had on pupils and staff at St Patrick’s. We have learnt what it means to be ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ through assemblies, the curriculum, and events with our partner primary schools and wider parish. A highlight for us was receiving the Diocesan Anchor from St Gilbert’s RC Primary School!
Year 11 pupils visited Salford Quays to study urban regeneration. They scored streets and public spaces through an environmental quality survey, mapped land use across older and newer zones, and gathered short questionnaire responses from visitors and workers.
During interfaith week, pop-up chaplaincy returned! We focused on the importance of interfaith dialogue for Catholics, and the importance of learning about other faiths and religions. Well done to our Pupil Chaplains for running this event!
During Interfaith Week in November, we warmly welcomed Rabbi Ephraim Guttentag, Imam Abu Hafs and his associate Mohammed Faheem, and Fr Robert Dykes to our interfaith panel with Year 10. Religious Leaders answers pupils’ questions about their respective beliefs about God, the significance of their scriptures and the importance of interfaith dialogue.
Y8 forms have been attending Wednesday prayers in the chapel. We started off in a fantastic way with 8BG who attended the prayer service (some also read and led us in the Bidding Prayers) and also brought donations for Pat’s Pantry which were put together in a lovely way by Mrs Gallagher. It was wonderful to see the chapel so full and lovely to see how many donations had been brought in.
A group of Year 10 students recently embarked on an exciting two-day educational trip to London and Oxford University. The journey combined culture, adventure, and academic inspiration – exploring art at the Tate Modern, tackling an escape room, watching Hercules in London’s West End, and discovering university life at Oxford!
We were honoured to be represented at the Churches Together Act of Remembrance Service for Armistice, held at the Peel Green War Memorial at Peel Green Crematorium. 
Thank you to Florence, Oliver, Rose, and Alex who attended on behalf of the school. The beautiful sculpture displayed was created by members of the KS3 Art Club, under the leadership of Grace and Adelaide.
As part of our ongoing commitment to enriching our pupils’ learning through real-world experiences, a group of our students recently took part in the exciting Innovation Train and STEM Experience: Celebrating 200 Years of Railways. This special day combined history, engineering, geography, and future-focused learning — all wrapped up in a fun and interactive way.
Our Senior Prefect Committee – Care for Creation have been working hard to make and install dog-poo bag dispensers along the pathway beside our school. 🐾
Inspired by the great example of the saints and the Solemnity of All Saints, our students spent some time today at our “pop-up Chaplaincy” event reflecting on how we can become saints and the gifts God has given us✝️💛🙏
Our talented Year 10 Hospitality and Catering pupils delivered an incredible Food Festival to mark the end of Black History Month, treating pupils and staff to a vibrant celebration of culture, flavour, and unity. Guests enjoyed a variety of free taster dishes inspired by cuisines from around the world, showcasing both creativity and culinary skill.

Pupils in 8MCA took part in an ‘Examination of Conscience’ in our beautiful school chapel and showed a lot of reverence and respect. Pupils have been learning about Conscience in lesson so they had chance to reflect on how they use their conscience in their own lives.
A group of our Year 10s welcomed the Salford Centenary Sterring Group and told them about St Patrick’s and their views on Salford. The group are looking for 100 Salford heroes – do you know anyone who could be nominated? If so, get in touch!
Our Year 11 students gathered for Macbeth Movie Night, bringing Shakespeare’s thrilling tale to life on the big screen! From ambition and betrayal to courage and consequence, it was a fantastic way to explore the play while enjoying a fun evening with friends. 🎭💫
Our Year 11 students threw themselves into Working Skills Day! From practical tasks to teamwork challenges, they explored the skills that will help them thrive in the world of work. 🌟💼
Thank you to Voices of the Holocaust for deepening our understanding of the holocaust. Year 10 were blown away. This experience will have a deep and lasting impact on their understanding of humanity and their own responsibilities towards others

Our Year 7s had unforgettable retreats at Savio House — a time to reflect, bond, and grow together as a community!
Pupil Chaplains visited Holy Cross to meet Columban missionaries, who were stopping for lunch during their pilgrimage walk. They discussed the impact of climate change around the world, and prayed for the future of our common home.
Flo and Keira in Year 8 said: “It was an amazing way to connect with our faith and share our ideas to improve our world.” Organisers shared that spending time with our incredible pupils had been a highlight of the day for many pilgrims.
We were delighted to host our Careers Information Evening here at St Patrick’s RC High School. It was fantastic to see so many of our Year 10 and Year 11 pupils exploring their future paths and gathering valuable insights about life after St Patrick’s.
Our pupils and staff held a cake sale raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. We also filled our Prayer Tree with heartfelt prayers and messages for all affected by cancer. May God bless and comfort all who are suffering. 
Thank you to Mr Joy for his assemblies on World Environmental Health Day, where this year’s message is ‘Clean air, Healthy people’. This has been a great opportunity for pupils to reflect on their vital role as stewards of our common home; God’s creation.
Year 11 Art and Design pupils recently had the privilege of working with professional ceramic artist Alison Waters, whose work will soon be exhibited at Manchester City Gallery.
We were delighted to welcome Sr Anna and Sr Linda to school to deliver an inspiring assembly to Year 8, who are about to begin their journey of preparation for Confirmation.

Year 10 students visited Fleetwood at the end of the school year to investigate the impact of hard engineering on coastal processes.
Over 60 pupils and staff received the Sacrament of Reconciliation in school. We are incredibly grateful to Fr Martin, Fr Frank, Fr Ian, Fr Frankie, Fr Bob and Fr Emmanuel for joining us in school to make this possible.
Year 11 Prom was a night to remember – laughs, dancing, and memories that’ll last a lifetime 
This year’s Mission Day was a resounding success, as students took part in a wide range of exciting activities.
58 Year 8 children embarked on a residential in the stunning location of Castlerigg Manor in the Lake District. They took part in many activities linked to their spiritual development, enjoyed the beautiful landscapes and spent time getting to know each other whilst on retreat. Some of the highlights included a walk to Derwentwater, a party night, and a lovely mass to finish the retreat.
We had the pleasure of taking 23 pupils on an enriching trip to Oxford University and London.
