RSHE at St Patrick’s RC High School – Life to the Full

RHSE Lead: Miss H Mainwaring

What is RSHE?

RSHE stands for Relationships, Sex and Health Education. It is a key part of our curriculum that supports students’ spiritual, moral, social, and emotional development. RSHE helps young people to:

  • Build healthy, respectful relationships rooted in love and dignity.
  • Understand emotional, physical, and moral aspects of growing up.
  • Make informed, responsible, and faith-guided choices.
  • Develop resilience, self-respect, and wellbeing.

At St Patrick’s RC High School, RSHE is taught through the lens of our Catholic faith, helping every pupil recognise their God-given worth and to live out the Gospel values of love, respect, service, and responsibility.

Why we use Ten:Ten’s Life to the Full

We deliver RSHE using Life to the Full, a programme created by Ten:Ten Resources specifically for Catholic secondary schools.

We use this programme because:

  • It is fully compliant with national RSHE statutory requirements.
  • It is approved by the Catholic Education Service and compliant with the expectations of our Diocese.
  • It offers a faith-based, age-appropriate, and holistic approach, exploring emotional, physical, social, and spiritual aspects of personal development.
  • It supports our school’s mission to form the whole person – body, mind, and spirit – helping pupils to grow in confidence and character.
  • It provides engaging film-based content, discussion activities, and prayer reflections designed for meaningful classroom delivery.

By using Life to the Full, St Patrick’s ensures that our RSHE curriculum is grounded in Catholic teaching, aligned with diocesan standards, and relevant to the experiences of our young people today.

How RSHE is delivered

  • RSHE will run over 7 weeks, beginning Monday 3 December.
  • Each year group will complete one unit per week, following the Life to the Full sequence for their year.
  • Lessons are delivered in 2×30-minute PSHCE form-time sessions per week.
  • Form tutors deliver these sessions, as they know their pupils best and can create a safe, supportive, and reflective environment for discussion.
  • Each week’s content includes a mix of short films, guided activities, reflection, and prayer, supporting students to learn, think critically, and grow in faith.

Through the Parent Portal, families can access:

  • Short videos and explanations of themes taught in school
  • Guidance on discussing sensitive topics at home
  • Prayers and reflections connected to each unit
