Our Student Leadership Programme offers pupils the opportunity to take an active role in serving St Patrick’s and the wider community, in line with our Catholic value of Service.
It aims to improve pupils’ confidence and enhance their leadership skills, encouraging them to be positive, inspiring role models for all. All members of the Student Leadership Team are encouraged to make meaningful contributions to our school, serve younger pupils, and create a sense of belonging and community for all.
Leadership Roles at St Patrick’s RC High School
The Student Leadership Team consists of pupils from both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 who serve our St Patrick’s community and aim to strengthen our school for the better.
All pupils at St Patrick’s are taught leadership skills, but those who wish to become part of the Student Leadership Team undergo an application process mirroring that of the world of work. These opportunities prepare young people for life beyond school and encourage them to contribute positively to God’s world.
Pupils in Year 10 support the leadership of committees in preparation for applying to the Student Leadership Team in Year 11.
Our Student Leadership Team consists of:
- Two Head Pupils
- Four Deputy Head Pupils
- Senior Prefects and Prefects
Each member leads or supports one of our school committees. During the application process, pupils are asked to demonstrate how they have already contributed to the wider school community and to propose an action plan for how they will continue to serve it.
Student Council Representatives
Our Student Council Representatives are Key Stage 3 pupils who play a vital role in shaping life at St Patrick’s. From the very start of their secondary education, pupils are encouraged to take responsibility, express their ideas, and actively contribute to the school community. By representing the views of their peers in School Council meetings, they help ensure that every pupil’s voice is heard. This early involvement in leadership fosters confidence, responsibility, and a sense of service, reflecting our Catholic values and helping pupils grow as faith-filled, engaged members of our school community.
Pupil Voice Representatives
Our Pupil Voice Representatives are Key Stage 3 pupils who play a crucial role in ensuring that every student’s opinions and ideas are heard. From the start of their secondary journey, they act as ambassadors for their peers, gathering feedback on school life, wellbeing, and learning, and presenting it to the Student Council and leadership teams. This early involvement in decision-making fosters responsibility, confidence, and a sense of service, helping pupils grow as active, faith-filled members of our community. Through their work, they embody our Catholic value of Truth, promoting openness, fairness, and positive change across the school.
Anti-Bullying Ambassadors
Our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors are pupils from Years 7–10 who play a key role in fostering a safe, respectful, and caring environment at St Patrick’s. Trained to lead by example, they support their peers, raise awareness of bullying issues, and actively promote our Catholic values of Love, Dignity, Faith, Service, and Resilience. By encouraging kindness, understanding, and mutual respect, they help ensure that every pupil feels valued, included, and able to flourish. Through their work, pupils learn to lead with compassion and integrity, demonstrating that living out Gospel values makes a real difference in the school community.
Peer Mentoring
Our Peer Mentoring Programme consists of Year 10 pupils who provide support to younger pupils in school. Peer Mentors assist pupils in Years 7–9 with their transition to high school, help them problem-solve, foster positive relationships, and encourage them to reach their full potential both in and beyond school. They liaise with staff to support their mentees and hold regular weekly meetings.
Pupil Chaplains
Our Pupil Chaplains, drawn from both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, are commissioned as strong leaders of faith, anchored in Christ. They support the spiritual, moral, and social development of the St Patrick’s community by leading prayer, collective worship, and faith-based initiatives. Working alongside our School Chaplain, staff, the Faith in Action Group, and Father Martin, they nurture and enhance the Catholic Life of the school. By guiding younger pupils, modeling Gospel values, and promoting a culture of prayer, service, and compassion, Pupil Chaplains help all members of our school community grow in faith, confidence, and responsibility.
St Patrick’s RC High School Pupil Committees
Senior Prefect Committees
The Senior Prefect Committees are a cornerstone of pupil leadership at St Patrick’s RC High School. They provide an opportunity for our Senior Prefects to take responsibility, lead initiatives, and make a real impact on school life. Each committee focuses on a specific area of school development, including spiritual life, wellbeing, environmental stewardship, physical activity, creativity, and community service.
Pupils apply for positions on the committees through a formal application process, reflecting their commitment, vision, and readiness to serve. Those appointed are expected to lead with faith, service, and integrity, guiding and supporting other pupils, organising events, and driving positive change across the school.
Through their work, Senior Prefect Committees positively enhance the life of the school, ensuring that every project and initiative contributes to a welcoming, inclusive, and inspiring community where all pupils can thrive. In addition to shaping school life, participating in these committees helps pupils develop key skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, preparing them for life beyond St Patrick’s.
The committees can be found below:
- “Resilience in Action”

Enhances the spiritual life of St Patrick’s and contributes positively to the school and wider community. Members actively embody what it means to be a Catholic, guiding younger pupils on their journey of faith. - “Dignity for All”
Promotes respect, belonging, and togetherness. Reminds pupils that each person is made in God’s image, celebrating the unique God-given dignity of every individual. - “Physical Stewardship”
Promotes health, wellbeing, resilience, and personal growth. Members involve others in sport and physical activity, teaching that caring for our bodies and minds honours the gifts given to us by God. - “Performing Arts”
Celebrates creativity and expression through music, drama, and the arts — gifts that reflect the beauty and imagination of our Creator. This committee enhances our school’s cultural and spiritual life by organising performances, liturgical celebrations, and creative events that bring joy, unity, and inspiration to our community.
