Year 10 Fleetwood Trip – 16th July 2025

Year 10 students visited Fleetwood to investigate the impact of hard engineering on coastal processes. As part of their fieldwork, they measured the rate of longshore drift by observing the movement of an orange along the shoreline. They also recorded the amount of exposed groyne to assess how much sediment had been trapped on the north and south side, helping to evaluate the effectiveness of the structures.

In addition, students created detailed field sketches to visually document the coastal defences and surrounding environment, providing further insight into how hard engineering has influenced the landscape.
