Guided Pathways at GCSE

At Key Stage 4, the majority of our pupils are advised to follow the EBacc pathway, which offers a strong academic foundation. This includes core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, Religious Education, as well as a Humanity subject (History or Geography), and a Modern Foreign Language (French or Spanish). The EBacc pathway is nationally recognised and supports a wide range of future academic and career opportunities.

A small number of pupils will follow the non-EBacc pathway, which is equally ambitious and carefully tailored to individual strengths and needs. This route also includes a robust academic core of English, Mathematics, Science, Religious Education, and a Humanity (History or Geography), whilst also offering some additional flexibility and personalisation. This ensures that every learner is supported to thrive and achieve their full potential.

Our guided pathways are designed to prepare all pupils, regardless of the route they take, for further education, training, or employment, and to equip them with the skills and character to make a meaningful contribution to society.
