LRC and Opening Times

The Learning Resource Centre is a great space for reading and studying. We are open in G15 from 8am every morning, at break time, lunchtime and after school for homework club until 4pm daily.

We have fiction books and a suite of computers downstairs in G15, along with a quiet study space, and factual books are located upstairs in F19.

Throughout the year, the Library will host special themed events and run competitions such as Roald Dahl Day, World Book Day and Towel Day. Everyone is invited to join in and there are prizes on offer.

Borrowing from the Library

Every pupil is automatically a member of the library and you can loan 2 books for up to 2 weeks. Your chosen book will be stamped with a due date but no fines will be issued for late return of books. If you require the book for longer, it needs to be returned to the Library and renewed.

If you can’t find anything that appeals to you, feel free to request new titles by putting your suggestion in the green box in the library OR by emailing Rothery.s@stpatricksrchigh.co.uk

What will you find in the library

Library Induction Lesson

Mrs Rothery, our Learning Resource Centre manager, delivers a library induction lesson to every year 7 within the first few weeks of the new term in September.

Pupils are shown how to locate books to read for pleasure (fiction), and books to help them with schoolwork and homework (non-fiction).  They are also introduced to the Dewey Decimal System that is used in colleges and universities around the world.

By the end of the session pupils are able to locate books on any topic and feel confident about using the resources.
