“The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.” Phil Jackson
At St Patrick’s, our Physical Education curriculum is rooted in Gospel values and designed to nurture both the physical and moral development of every student. We seek to educate the whole person – body, mind, and spirit – fostering resilience, truth, faith, service, and love through every aspect of PE.
We encourage pupils to see physical activity as a lifelong gift, nurturing health, confidence, and wellbeing while recognising the body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Through inclusive opportunities in sport, games, and fitness, every student is supported to experience joy in movement, build self-esteem, and develop the resilience to persevere through challenge.
Our programme emphasises truth and integrity, encouraging students to compete fairly, respect rules, and value honesty both on and off the field. Faith and service are lived out as pupils support one another, lead with humility, and recognise the unique worth of every individual, regardless of ability or background. Love and community are at the heart of our curriculum, where teamwork, encouragement, and celebration of others’ successes are key.
Students also learn the importance of healthy lifestyles, physical literacy, and mental wellbeing, setting personal goals and striving to be their best. In doing so, they carry the lessons of PE beyond the sports hall, contributing to a culture of respect, perseverance, and service within the wider school and community.
Our PE curriculum inspires students to live out their faith through active, healthy living, carrying forward the values of resilience, truth, faith, service, and love into all areas of life.
