“Acting is not about being famous. It’s about exploring the human soul.” Annette Bening

Our Drama curriculum provides a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to grow in confidence, creativity and compassion. Rooted in Gospel values such as dignity, community and expression of the self, drama offers pupils the opportunity to explore their identity, develop empathy for others, and find their voice, both individually and in collaboration with others.

Drama lessons nurture a spirit of trust and respect, allowing pupils to take creative risks, reflect on human experiences, and communicate ideas in imaginative ways. Through engaging schemes of work including text work, character building, and storytelling, pupils explore a range of dramatic styles and techniques. They are introduced to key conventions such as narration, thought-tracking and still images, while developing a strong foundation of subject-specific vocabulary.

Pupils learn to express themselves through performance and respond thoughtfully to the work of others, promoting active listening, teamwork and a sense of shared responsibility. Drama enables learners to encounter diverse perspectives, challenge injustice and celebrate the uniqueness of every individual, reflecting our Catholic commitment to inclusivity, compassion and the development of the whole person.
