“Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.” Steve Jobs

Our Business Studies curriculum is designed to develop confident, informed and ethically minded learners who understand the dynamic nature of the business world and their potential role within it. Rooted in Gospel values such as stewardship, service, justice and integrity, our curriculum encourages students to see business not only as a means of economic activity, but as a vocation that can serve the common good.

By studying GCSE Business Studies, pupils are equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to explore how real-world business situations influence decision-making. They develop a clear understanding of key concepts, objectives and terminology, while reflecting on how contemporary issues, such as ethical practices, environmental sustainability and globalisation, shape modern business operations.

Pupils begin their learning by exploring the purpose and role of business in society, from identifying entrepreneurial opportunities to understanding how businesses grow and respond to change. They study the essential functions of marketing and human resources, considering how these contribute to a business’s success and reflect its values. Real-world case studies, business visits and guest speakers enrich learning and connect theoretical knowledge to practical application, encouraging pupils to think critically about the moral and ethical dimensions of business decisions.

Through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching, students are invited to consider how businesses can promote human dignity, fair working conditions, environmental care, and the responsible use of resources. In doing so, they are challenged to become not only future entrepreneurs and leaders, but also compassionate contributors to a more just and sustainable economy.  Our aim is that every pupil leaves Business Studies with the ability to make informed choices, act with integrity, and understand how business can be a powerful force for positive change in their lives, communities and the wider world.
