Failure to arrive at school by 8.25am will result in a detention.
If students are late to school they are automatically placed into a “Late to School” lunchtime detention. These detentions take place in S1 for Years 10 & 11 and F2 for Years 7, 8 and 9. These detentions commence at 12.15pm and are 30 minutes in duration. Once the detention has concluded, pupils can get their lunch in the dining hall at 12.45pm. Late detentions occur on the same day as the lateness (unless the pupil already has another detention scheduled at the same time that day). Failure to attend a late detention will result in a escalated detention of a longer duration the following day.
Pupils who are deemed late will be informed by the punctuality duty staff that they have a “late to school” detention when they arrive at school. This will added as a behaviour and subsequent detention on Class Charts.
We appreciate that there may be sometimes extenuating circumstances out of your child’s control resulting in them being late. If there is a genuine reason then we ask parents/carers to communicate with the school by the latest 11.00am on the day so the Detention duty staff can review at lunchtime. Regardless of reason, all pupils who are informed by the punctuality duty team that they have a detention must arrive at the detention room on time. If after reviewing parent/carer correspondance, the Detention duty staff may inform a pupil that as they have a genuine reason supported by a parent/carer then the behaviour points and subsequent detention will be removed. The School reserves the right to determine what is classed as an extenuating circumstance.
If a student is late on more than one occasion in a week they will receive an after school detention.
Please note: Students are not permitted to leave the school site during break or lunch time
