Pupils benefit from a well-thought-out curriculum; they learn well.’ (Ofsted, 2022)

The Curriculum at St Patrick’s RC High School

St Patrick’s: A beacon of Catholic excellence

St Patrick’s is a school which provides a Catholic education for the twenty-first century. Every member of our community is treated as a child of God, created with dignity and designed with a purpose.

The five-year curriculum at St Patrick’s will enable our pupils to discover…

  • Who they are
  • Why they are here
  • Where they are going

…in light of the Gospel Values of Jesus Christ and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, as expressed in our Mission Statement.

Our curriculum is intended for the education and formation of young people who will go out and make a difference to God’s world. Through both the examined and non-examined curriculum, we use the charism of St Patrick to contribute to the holistic development of our pupils, encouraging them to live out the values of Faith, Truth, Resilience, Love and Service.

We strive for academic excellence, offering a broad and balanced curriculum at Key Stage 3 that is academically rigorous and relevant to our young learners.  At Key Stage 3, pupils experience our full suite of subjects up until the end of Year 9, ensuring our curriculum remains broad for as long as possible.

This strong foundation is further developed at Key Stage 4 through our commitment to placing the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) at the heart of the curriculum. We ensure that all students engage with an academically ambitious curriculum that promotes breadth and depth of knowledge, as well as the skills that will prepare them for further education and employment and to make a difference to the communities they are part of.

By celebrating the unique gifts of every individual and promoting a culture of inclusivity, respect, and community, we prepare our students not only for academic success but also to live out their faith and serve others. Together, through our examined and non-examined curriculum, we guide our pupils to become confident, compassionate, and resilient individuals who are ready to contribute meaningfully to God’s world.
