National Volunteering Week June 2026 Year 9 Volunteering Week: Living Out Our Values

During Volunteering Week, our Year 9 pupils truly embodied both the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and our school values of Love, Service and Resilience. Through their generosity, commitment and willingness to help others, they made a positive difference across our school community and demonstrated what it means to live out these values in action.

Throughout the week, pupils took part in a wide range of activities, showing that every act of service, no matter how big or small, can have a meaningful impact. They supported staff with organisational tasks, helped with both small and large jobs around the school, and took responsibility for improving shared spaces by recognising and responding to the impact of others’ mess. These actions reflected not only a spirit of service, but also resilience, as pupils approached every task with determination and positivity.

Pupils also spread messages of joy and encouragement throughout the school, bringing smiles to others and fostering a sense of community and belonging. In doing so, they demonstrated the value of love, showing care, kindness and respect for those around them.

Through their creativity and enterprise, pupils crafted jewellery to sell in support of Catholic charities, raising funds and awareness for those in need. This activity reflected the Catholic Social Teaching principles of solidarity and the preferential option for the poor, while also highlighting our value of service as pupils used their talents to support others beyond our school community.

We are incredibly proud of how Year 9 stepped up and embraced the opportunities presented during Volunteering Week. For some, it has been an excellent introduction to volunteering and the difference it can make. For others, it has ignited a desire to continue serving others in new ways.

We look forward to seeing where their volunteering journey takes them next—whether through helping in their parish, supporting projects in their local community, or offering a helping hand more often at home. By living out our values of Love, Service and Resilience, Year 9 have shown that even the simplest acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.

Year 9 have truly excelled during Volunteering Week, and their enthusiasm, compassion and dedication have been an inspiration to us all.
