Year 8

French

Pupils continue to develop their linguistic competencies in each of the four skill areas whilst consolidating language already learned in Year 7. A heavier focus on extended writing and translation skills is prevalent and pupils are expected to be able to use the past, present and future tenses by the end of the year in both written and speaking capacities. Pupils are encouraged to work more independently and to speak in the Target Language as much as possible in class. They also begin to add depth to written and spoken work by using more complex language including structures such as comparative adjectives and expressions of time and frequency. New topics this year include –, free time and leisure activities, food and drink and holidays.
