Year 7

Year 7 are set using their Primary School examination results, scores from a Baseline Assessment completed during the first week in September and a Numeracy Assessment for their Numerical Age.

There are two populations in each year. ’P’ Population has sets one to five and ‘I’ Population has sets one to four. Depending upon the set a pupil is placed in, they will cover one of three differentiated Long Term Plans for Year 7.

Each pupil has a half termly booklet of homework. There are 20 questions each week covering essential key skills needed to support the pupil’s mathematical studies. Pupils are encouraged to visit their mathematics teacher if they are struggling or unsure about their homework or to speak to any member of the mathematics team.

The Pupil Premium Grant Funding is bid for on a pupil by pupil basis where the needs of the pupils require extra resources or support.

The Numerical age assessment identifies pupils who need to join our Catch-up maths programme run by our Numeracy Coordinator. Pupils can be involved with Catch-up in year seven and eight; this supports their mathematical learning in lessons. Lower set usually have fewer pupils and where possible a teaching assistant to support learning.

In order to stretch our most able pupils they are put forward for a Mathematics Challenge for which they can receive a Gold, Silver or Bronze certificate.

Extra support for Parents and Pupils is also available via the schools online resources:

All pupils have both school and individual logins for both resources.
