Barcelona Trip Update

Dear Parent/Carer

In light of recent political events in Barcelona I wanted to take this opportunity to write to you regarding the forthcoming Easter trip. The demonstrations that have taken place over the weekend have largely been focused on government institutions near to the Gothic Quarter in central Barcelona. Please rest assured that all of our planned excursions are located away from this area, and we have dedicated coach travel for the duration of our trip, meaning it is not necessary for us to use public transport at any point. We have been in touch with the travel company, consulted the Foreign Office website, thoroughly checked our itinerary and conducted risk assessments for all activities planned. As such, we have taken the decision to avoid the area surrounding the Ramblas and have an alternative provision now in place for this part of our trip.

We are therefore happy that the trip, departing on 3rd April, can go ahead without cause for concern. We will continue to monitor the news channels daily to check for any planned protests during our time there and adjust our schedule accordingly should the need arise - however we deem this to be highly unlikely.

It goes without saying that pupil safety is, and always will be, of utmost importance to us, and if we ever thought that pupil safety was compromised we would not hesitate to cancel the trip.

Yours sincerely
