Extracurricular

All schools need rules and a happy and successful school is one in which good order prevails. Occasionally sanctions need to be applied and parents will be consulted. St. Patrick’s expects high standards of conduct, behaviour and appearance and counts on parental support to achieve these standards.

You will appreciate that in a fashion-conscious world the school must reserve the right to decide what is or is not allowed both in uniform and general appearance. For example, no jewellery may be worn by boys or girls with the exemption of watches, religious medallions or a crucifix.

Attendance

Each week an attendance trophy is awarded to the form with the best attendance in the previous week. A whole week’s full attendance by a form is rewarded.

Regular attendance is essential for good schooling. Pupils with a one hundred per cent attendance record for a year or more are awarded. On an ongoing basis, those with 100% attendance are entered into a draw each half term for a cash prize.

High standards of attendance depend on parental co-operation and if a child is absent from school we ask you to let the School Office know as soon as possible. Each pupil must bring a written note of explanation when returning to school after absence. St. Patrick’s employs an Attendance Officer who telephones and visits homes to investigate absences and to discuss problems. Normally telephone contact is made on the first day of absence.

Holidays should not be taken during term time.
