During the six weeks summer holidays, St Patrick's pupils past and present gave up their time as part of their Duke Of Edinburgh award to take part in a gardening project at St Peter and Paul's Church and St Joseph's.
PC Lucy has ran this project for the past four years and is delighted at its success. Father Devaney and Father Kinsella are always delighted at the work we manage to get done which includes; painting, landscaping and clearing debris. We work hard but have fun too with a few barbacues and picnics thrown in!
Recent media surrounding the riots has meant young people have yet again been poorly portrayed. It is important for us to remember that the vast majority of young people make a positive contribution to society and the gardening project is just one example of this. PC Lucy says she is proud of all the pupils that took part who were; Connor McKinney, Christopher Reid, Chloe Rustidge, Lauren Maggs, Ryan Maggs, John-Paul Bradford, Megan Dickinson, Liberty Dickinson, Charlotte Lingings, Rachel Lingings, Tom Aitken, Kate Aitken, Adam Tidswell, Ethan Green, Emma O'Conner, Sophie Shedden and Sarah Butterworth.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is supported by St Patrick's and PC Lucy acts as a point of contact for any pupil, 14 years and over who is interested.
